Dear Parents and Carers,

Updates for week beginning Monday 9th February 2026. It's a busy one!

It is Children's Mental Health Week this week so we will be having assemblies, discussions and activities around the theme of 'My Place' to explore the idea of belonging.

Tuesday 10th February - Safer Internet Day - we will be have different activities on this day to learn about being safe online and in particular, using AI assistants safely.

Wednesday 11th February - I am out of class all day for PPA/ECT time - Mr Taylor (supply) to cover.

Thursday 12th - this will be a non-uniform day for the winning house with the most points this half term. The winners this term are the green house Arctic. Well done!

Friday 13th February - we will celebrating Chinese New Year by having a special lunch menu and a Chinese Dragon dance workshop in the afternoon. We cannot wait!

Thank you.

Homework

This is to be completed weekly and consists of:

  • Reading at home (4 times or more per week would be amazing!)
  • Reading records should be brought into school every day but must be in on a Thursday as this is when we count the children's reads for the week.
  • Spelling Shed - children will be set weekly homework to consolidate the week's learning. They should be accessing this for the homework but also a wide range of education games based around their spelling 4 times a week.
  • TTRS - (4 times or more per week would again be brilliant!) These do not need to be much longer than 3 minutes per day - little and often! We will sometimes have times table "battles" against other classes so please encourage your children to have a go!

Percentages of children who do each of the above 4 times a week or more are read out in our Celebration Assembly each week and dojos are on offer for these so please encourage your children to have a go.

Learning

This information will be updated every half term.

During Spring 1, we will be learning:

  • Maths - we will be focusing on multiplication and division and also money.
  • English - we will be creating character profiles based on The Boy Who Grew Dragons by Andy Shepherd as well as writing newspaper reports and diary entries.
  • Science - we will be experimenting with rocks and soil.
  • RE - we will be exploring what Muslims believe about God.
  • Geography - we will be learning about the country of China and its culture and people.
  • Art - we will be using tone and texture to create observational drawings.
  • PSHE - we will be exploring safety - both through learning about personal boundaries and also road safety.
  • Music - we will be learning musical notes on the recorder.
  • Computing - we will be exploring online safety.
  • French - we will be recapping our numbers and greetings as well as learning how to talk about fruit, colours and Easter.

It is going to be a busy but very fun half term!
