Welcome back to school! As we embark on a new half term of the year, remember that education is the key that unlocks countless doors of opportunity. PE Days

 

PE is on a Monday and Tuesday, please make sure all PE kit is in school and the children are not wearing any Jewlery.

Summary of this half terms learning.

In Summer 1 we will covering the following:

 

English:  This half term we will be focussing on the Narrative ” Stand Tall”. The children will create their own adapted story using the class model.

In Reading we will focusing on non- fiction where the children will explore topics such as , the Ancient Egypt, Urban living and Paris. The fiction text for this half term is Bill's new frock. 

 

Maths: We will start the term by using appropriate standard of units to estimate sums of money. Children will be using coins and notes to add and subtract different values.  The pupils will be learning different combination of coins that equal the same amount of money. We will finish the half term learning about fractions. pupils will recognise, find and write fractions in a discrete set of objects wit small denominators. 

 

Geography: Magical Mapping How are maps used? Children will explore a range of maps at a local, national and global level, developing their understanding of how to navigate around an atlas to find key countries, continents, oceans and seas along with devising their own maps and routes. They will learn how to ‘view from above’ looking at aerial photographs to spot human and physical features, understand simple map symbols, compass directions and develop key geographical vocabulary throughout the unit.

 

PE: Our P.E lessons will be on Monday and Tuesday.  All earrings must be removed and hair tied up. This half term we will be focusing on on Athletics and Fundamentals. 

 

Art: craft. we are designers. Pupils will be exploring different techniques to be used with materials which can than be applied to any project. learning to investigate different ideas by creating a mood board to work as a visual map and source of inspiration. 

 

ICT: This unit explores creating media digital music. Learners will explore how music can make them think and feel. They will make patterns and use those patterns to make music with both percussion instruments and digital tools. They will also create different rhythms and tunes, using the movement of animals for inspiration. Finally, learners will share their creations and compare creating music digitally and non-digitally.

 

PSHE: This term we will focus on health and wellbeing. Pupils will learn about why should we eat well and look after our teeth. Children will understand that rules help them to keep safe and about being healthy, this incudes eating well and dental care. 

 

Science: : Plant reproduction: Pupils will be able to identify what plants need to grow healthily, describe the structure and function of the parts of flowering plants, investigate how plants transport water, describe the life cycle of a flowering plant and explain seed dispersal methods.

 

Music: In this unit, we ask ‘How Does Music Connect Us with Our Planet?’ as an entry point for the broad Social Theme of ‘Music Is a Nature Lover and Guardian of the Earth’. This is relevant to learning topics such as nature, environment, animals, geography, biology, art, outdoor education, the Forest School, climate change, environmental justice and other topics.

 

RE: The children will learn about how do Jewish people celebrate Passover (Pesach). By the end of the module, pupils will be able to recognise that Passover (Pesach) is a Jewish festival, identify ways in which Passover can have an impact on Jewish daily life and family as well as identify evidence of religion and belief especially in the local area. 

 

French: This term we will learn about days of the week, months of the year and spring vocabulary.
