Our topic this half term is Terrific Tales.
During this topic we will be exploring traditional tales and celebrations and festivals from around the world. We will be learning about Diwali, Remembrance Day and the Christmas story.
We will be talking about how we have celebrated with our families during Christmas’ in the past. We will be looking at photos of how Christmas used to be celebrated in the past, using world maps to show children where some stories are based.
We will be understanding that everyone is valued, all cultures are celebrated and we all share and respect the opinions of others.
In Maths we will continue will strengthening our number knowledge, focusing on addition and subtraction. We will be learning our days of the week, seasons and sequencing daily events.
In Literacy, we will be focusing on traditional tales, re-telling stories related to events through role playing and drawing. We will be able to sequence stories using vocabulary of beginning, middle and end.

REMINDERS:
We ask if you could bring in a pair of wellies and a raincoat to be left at school to allow us to play and explore outside no matter the weather!
PE
Our PE day is Friday. Please ensure PE kits are kept in school and all items are labeled with their name.
HOMEWORK
Please encourage your child to read their Monster Phonic book at least 4 times each week, and to practice our focus words.
Your child will also come home with a library book, this book is to promote reading for pleasure. Please return it each Monday for your child to then choose a new book for the week.
We send our phonics focus sheets each Monday, please ensure your child brings their phonic folder to school each day.
Please also keep their reading book and record in their school bag to bring to school each morning, this way we can listen and read with your child at school too!
Thank you
