This is an exciting first week back! There are a couple of fun trips taking place.  In addition to this, Year 5 from our class will be completing assessments in the hall with Mrs Kimble. 

 

Tuesday - Young Voices. The coach will leave at 11.30 and return after the concert.  

 

Wednesday - Mrs Umfreville and Mrs Parrish will be taking some of us to Sports Hall Athletics at 11.30 after an early lunch.  Everyone else will have lunch at the normal time and will be taught by Mrs Kimble. 

 

Friday: Mrs Umfreville will be out of class all day - supply to cover. 

Homework 

 

Year 5

  • Play Times Tables Rockstars at least 4 times a week
  • Attempt Spelling Shed at least 4 times during the week.
  • Read 4 times a week. .

Year 6

  • Play Times Tables Rockstars at least 4 times a week
  • Attempt Spelling Shed at least 4 times a week
  • Read 4 times a week
  • Instead of using homework books over half term, please log into Century at app.century.tech to attempt some of the maths and English diagnostic assignments set for you. These will help the app to learn your levels and support your learning better. 

 

Class percentages for those who achieve 4 reads and 4 days on TT Rockstars will be read out in Celebration assembly.  Don't forget, you will get 4 house points for getting your four reads, EdShed and TTRS days!  House points are collected as dojos, and the winning team will have a reward at the end of term. 

 

SATs Meeting 15/10/25

 

It was great to see those of you who attended. Here is the powerpoint that I showed you at the session.  Feel free to ask me questions about - you can catch me after school in the playground or email the class email address.

Spring 1

Science: Energy - Light and reflection.  We will be investigating how light travels and how we can change its path.   WE will look at every day uses of this knowledge. 

 

RE: Why should we be good?  We will be exploring different beliefs about making the right choices in life and what the consequences could be. We will look at the ideas of Christians, philosophy and Buddhism.

 

Geography: The Amazon. We will be looking in detail at the Amazon River and surrounding rainforest.  We will be investigating cities, people and wildlife of the region. 

 

ART: Photo opportunity - We will be experimenting with photographs and using them as a basis for abstract art. We will use famous paintings to inspire photographic ideas.

 

PSHE: Safety and the changing body. We will be looking at ways we can help our bodies stay healthy and safe.  We will be referencing some of the ideas previously taught about puberty regarding hygiene. 

 

PE: Yoga. We will be using Yoga routines to develop strength, flexibility and balance.  Children will be encouraged to use these ideas to be creative and also use them as a tool for mindfulness. 

 

ICT:  Online Safety. We'll be looking at how to stay safe online, how to browse the internet safely, how to deal with online bullying.  We will also be looking at how media influences our ideas and relationships. 

 

French: Fruit and breakfast choices. We will be revising our knowledge of French vocabulary and learning how to express preferences.  We will be learning about sentence structure to support our language development. 

 

Music:  Introducing Chords.  We will be looking at how notes can be played together to create chords and using these when playing music.
