Well done everyone for all your hard work last week. Everyone has worked really hard and we are proud of all of you.  One more week till half term - lets make this a good one!

 

Bikeability is finally here for those who signed up, so remember to bring your bikes and cycle helmets into school for these sessions.

 

Monday - 9.30 - 11.30 Bikeability

 

Tuesday - 9.30 - 11.30 Bikeability. Mrs Umfreville to be out of class from 1.30 to 2.30, Mrs Parrish and Mrs Tate to cover.  (PE will be a shorter session at 2.30)

 

Wednesday - 9.30 - 11.30 Bikeability. PE will be straight after lunch today instead of 2.00.  Mrs Umfreville will be out of class at 2.00, Mrs Parrish and Mrs Adams to cover.   3.00 -3.30 Meeting for Danbury parents.

 

Thursday - Junior Music Festival Area Rehearsal at Glebe School for those who are going (Remember to check the weather as this is a walking trip - will you need raincoats or sun hats?)

Mrs Umfreville out of class all day - Mrs Kelly to cover.

 

Friday - 9.30 - 11.30 Bikeability. Sweyne Park School transition visit - those going there in September will have the chance to meet one of their teachers.  Mrs Umfreville will be out of class for a short while to meet with SPS staff. (Cover TBA)

Homework  - As a reward for all the hard work during SATs Week, there are no homework requirements this week!  Both Year 5 and 6 can have a well earned rest. 

 

Year 5

  • Play Times Tables Rockstars at least 4 times a week
  • Attempt Spelling Shed at least 4 times during the week.
  • Read 4 times a week. .

Year 6

  • Play Times Tables Rockstars at least 4 times a week
  • Attempt Spelling Shed at least 4 times a week
  • Read 4 times a week

 

Class percentages for those who achieve 4 reads and 4 days on TT Rockstars will be read out in Celebration assembly.  Don't forget, you will get 4 house points for getting your four reads, EdShed and TTRS days!  House points are collected as dojos, and the winning team will have a reward at the end of term. 

 

If you haven't been on EdShed or TTRS 4 times in the week or completed your Century Homework (Yr6), you will be expected to make use of the school equipment available Thursday lunchtime to catch up.

 

 

SATs Meeting 15/10/25

 

It was great to see those of you who attended. Here is the powerpoint that I showed you at the session.  Feel free to ask me questions about - you can catch me after school in the playground or email the class email address.

Summer 1

Science: Forces and Space - Imbalanced Forces.  We will be investigating forces and their effects on the world around us. We will be taking part in practical experiments and analysing the data we collect. 

RE: How do Hindus Make sense of the world?   We will be finishing our unit on Science or Creation, then kickstart our unit on Hinduism with our visit to Bhaktidevanta Manor. 

 

History:  What Did The Ancient Greeks Do For Us?   We will be looking at the Ancient Greek civilisation and how they influence us today.  We will be exploring primary and secondary source material and using our skills to build our knowledge. 

 

Art: Sculpture and 3D - Making Memories. children will be learning to represent memories through art, using various materials and techniques.

 

PSHE: Economic Wellbeing. we will be investigating feelings about money, how to safeguard our money, and how the importance of money changes as you grow older.

 

PE: Athletics.  We will become confident in our running, jumping, throwing and catching skills. We will be building stamina as we tackle different challenges.

 

ICT:  Creating media - web pages. We will be investigation how websites work, the rules web-designers have to follow and what makes a good website. 

 

French: :Time Travelling! We will be revising our knowledge of French numbers, days of the week, months of the year and applying it to using intervals of time. 

 

Music:  We will be rehearsing for the Junior Music Festival and learning to play the glockenspiel, adding to our existing knowledge of musical notation.
