FOSNS – Friends of St. Nicholas School
FOSNS was set up as a charity in 2010 by a group of parents who wished to enhance their children’s education and foster good relations between parents and the school. This is still the aim of FOSNS today.
Our current officers are:
Chair & Trustee – Sarah Southwood
Secretary & Trustee – Gemma Sewell
Treasurer & Trustee – Jess O’Rourke
Trustee – Louise Turbitt
We also have a group of fabulous regular volunteers / committee members, namely Claire Atkinson, Rachel Brown, Emma Bull, Jennie Currie, Sarah Moxon, Hannah Murrell, Jo Norman & Michelle. These ladies have been invaluable at helping to run various events throughout the academic year. These events are primarily for the children to have fun, with the added bonus of raising money to provide additional resources that stretched school budgets cannot fund. Claire A has also organised the annual school tea-towel for the last two years and Mary-anne Matthews has organised the Christmas Cards.
All parents / carers are welcome to join our committee and help with fundraising. Any amount of time a volunteer can give is greatly appreciated, this could be organising a raffle prize for our Xmas or Summer raffles, running a stall at the Xmas or Summer bazaar, volunteering to help at the school discos or running a whole event! The list of possibilities is endless!
Volunteers are not expected to come to every meeting or help at every event, we appreciate that parents / carers have busy lives and any time given has to be fitted around other commitments.
If you would like to help please speak to one of us in the playground or email friendsofstnics@gmail.com
FOSNS Fundraising for 2024/25
FOSNS raised over £6,000 during the last academic year. An amazing achievement for our small school!
This enabled FOSNS to pay for the following resources and activities:
Monster Phonic Books, Zones of Regulation & Library Books £544
Kapla Workshop £720
Panto Coach and Treat Bags £1,220
Spelling Shed £242
Hi-Vis Vests £699
Gazebos £357
FOSNS have also agreed to fund the coach for the panto in December 2025 and a large shed, so that extra play equipment can be purchased for the children.
Ongoing Fundraising Initiatives
Raise money for FOSNS without leaving home! If you are unable to help or attend our events, it’s still possible to help raise money for us.
Your School Lottery
Our school lottery has been running for over six years now and has raised over £5,000 for our school in that time. The school receives 40p from every ticket sold.
