Welcome to Eagle Class 

Class teacher: Mrs Umfreville

Autumn 1- This half-term Eagle Class are learning:

 

Maths: This half term we will be revising place value and formal calculations in all four operations.  Pupils in both year groups will be encouraged to continue practicing their times tables using TT Rockstars as part of their homework. 

 

English: We will start this half term by looking at a recount in the form of a letter.  Pupils will be learning to show their opinions in written form. Pupils will be encouraged to use Spelling Shed at home to increase the accuracy of their spelling. 

 

Whole Class Reading: We will be answering VIPER questions based on our class book "Cool" by Michael Morpurgo.

 

Science: Our topic this half term is Materials: properties.  We will be evaluating materials based on their properties (hardness, conductivity, etc) and looking at reversible and irreversible changes. 

 

Geography: We will be looking at environmental change and asking the question, are we damaging our planet? We will be using atlases and online resources to support our research. 

 

R.E:  We will be looking at how and why religion can bring both peace and conflict. we will investigate the peaceful teachings of many religions. 

 

Computing: We will be investigating computing networks and how devices and people communicate with each other. 

 

Music: We will be investigating melody and harmony in music and developing our skills in playing, performing and composing music. 

 

PSHE: We will be learning about relationships in the context of family and friends, starting with how to build positive friendships. 

 

French: We will be learning about different buildings on the high street, how to describe our homes, revising days and numbers, as well as some mathematical vocabulary. 

 

P.E: Our topic is badminton, our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday.  WE will be outside, weather permitting.  As the temperatures begin to drop, it would be worth making sure your child has a PE sweatshirt, and leggings/joggers.

Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesdays. WE will be focusing on Badminton 

 

Please ensure you have the correct kit, all long hair is tied back and earrings are taken out.
