English: We will start by writing our own diary entries based on the text "An extract from the diary of Howard Carter", before going onto to write a discussion text about the impact of World War 1 and World War 11 on our locality.
Maths: We will be learning ratio and algebra.
Science: Our topic this half term is Materials: mixtures and separations. We will explore the hardness of different materials, determine the transparency of different materials, look at the thermal and electrical conductivity of different materials and link this to their uses. We will also identify and describe reversible and irreversible changes.
Computing: We will learning about programming. The unit begins with a simple program for pupils to build in and test within the new programming environment, before transferring it to their micro:bit. Pupils then take on three new projects in Lessons 2, 3, and 4, with each lesson adding more depth.
History: Our topic is 'The impact of War'. We will develop a chronologically secure knowledge and understanding of British, local and world history. We will address and devise historically valid questions about change, cause and significance as well as look at how our knowledge of the past is constructed from a range of sources.
RE: We will be exploring the question 'Why should we be good? What do the great philosophers teach about the meaning of life?' We will explore and interpret Plato's thought experiment; compare Karmic and Christian beliefs and how they affect moral behaviour; examine Buddhist teachings on how to live a good life and evaluate Kant's philosophical response to moral behaviour. To finish, we will compose an argument which includes ideas from religious and philosophical concepts.
Both our PE lessons will be on a Wednesday afternoon. We will be focusing on football and Dodgeball.
